Diagnostic Tools We Use
The start of a new year is the perfect time to reflect upon one’s life and make adjustments where needed. This is the reason why resolutions are so popular this time of the year. We encourage you to reflect and take a look at your oral health. The past ten months have been out of the ordinary for all of us, and it’s not unusual that routines have fallen by the wayside or been forgotten with all of the confusion and adjustments to the new way of life. If, thinking back, you have not visited Smile Dental Clinics within the past six months, now is a wonderful time to pick up the phone and schedule an appointment.
Your dental health is important to us, and we want to be sure that you are thoroughly examined during a routine visit and that any treatment options are planned out effectively. Depending on if it is your first visit with us or you are an existing patient, there are a number of diagnostic tools that may be used to help us monitor the health of your teeth, gums, and mouth.
Digital X-Rays
This option of X-ray is more efficient and is able to be uploaded to be reviewed immediately. Like a traditional X-ray, a sensor is placed in the mouth to help capture the image needed. We are able to enlarge or zoom in on an area for a closer look, which can help lead to a more accurate diagnosis and needed treatment.
Digital Panoramic
This two-dimensional X-ray takes full wraparound photos of your head, neck, and teeth. It offers a view that cannot be seen normally, which helps plan treatments for braces, dentures, and implants.
CT Scan
This scan allows us to take a three-dimensional image of your head, neck, and teeth. It gives the ability to look around the entire tooth if need be and is a wonderful tool to use when planning various treatments, such as implants.
Intraoral Camera
This camera allows you to be part of the action. You are able to get a first-hand look at what we are seeing in your mouth on a screen in the room. You see exactly where decay is located and what the treatment looks like.
If you have any questions about your dental care or have not scheduled a hygiene examination in quite some time, we encourage you to call our office located in Phoenix, AZ to schedule an appointment. We hope to see you soon!
